WHO IS THE PREMIER LEAGUE SIGNING OF THE SUMMER SO FAR?

Fans reveal their transfer anxieties and triumphs in updated Fan Hope Survey

PREMIER LEAGUE fans have been going Ster crazy for Chelsea’s stellar summer signing.

Raheem Sterling, who left Manchester City for Stamford Bridge this month, has been voted the best capture of this close-season in the latest results of Sky Bet’s Fan Hope Survey.

More than 1500 supporters from across the 20 top-flight clubs were quizzed on who they felt was the most impressive signing this summer.

England star Sterling came out on top, just ahead of the man who may well have prompted his Etihad exit, Erling Haaland.

In third was another player to leave City this summer in Gabriel Jesus, who has also headed to London to join Arsenal.

You might think that Pep Guardiola flogging two forwards that are so highly-rated by fans across the league would suggest most supporters do not think much of City’s business.

Wrong. The reigning champions ranked first when those surveyed were asked which club had done the best work in the market this summer, followed by Chelsea and Arsenal.

With all these shiny new attackers, the question of where they will all fit in at their respective clubs was put to supporters of each of the three sides.

City fans voted for a terrifying triumvirate of Phil Foden, Haaland and Riyad Mahrez.

Blues followers went for Sterling, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

While Gooners would like to see Jesus play alongside Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli.

Fans were also asked to convey how satisfied they were with their club’s business so far this summer, having been asked to do the exact same thing a month ago.

The results were fascinating after 30 days of activity with Chelsea the biggest jumpers, going up 30 per cent following the arrivals of Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Manchester United supporters have been encouraged enough by Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia pitching up to go from a pitiful 25 per cent satisfied to 51 per cent - although clearly there is still more work to do in the Old Trafford board room.

The most eye-catching move was for Nottingham Forest, who scored second most satisfied behind City - and above Liverpool - after a leap of 25 per cent.

That follows their eye-catching steal of Jesse Lingard, to add to the likes of Dean Henderson, Neco Williams, Lewis O’Brien and Omar Richards.

Fans of fellow Premier League newbies Fulham and Bournemouth seem encouraged by their transfer business so far too, while Crystal Palace also had a significant bump.

Newcastle disciples were the most emphatic in feeling their current squad is stronger compared to a year ago, followed by Forest and Tottenham.

But Everton, who sold Richarlison to Spurs, have many followers of the mind that they are weaker now.

It is a similar story for Eriksen-shorn Brentford and Wolves, who let goal-scoring centre-back Romain Saiss leave for nothing.
