Tommy Doyle / Loan / Manchester City
The Blades have a good recent record of developing young loanees and if they can unlock Doyle's potential then he could make all the difference to their season. The creative midfielder can pick a pass, has an excellent set-piece delivery and an eye for goal. 4/5
Anel Ahmedhodzic / Undisclosed / Malmo
A very highly thought of ball-playing central defender who was on loan at Bordeaux in Ligue 1 last season. Ahmedhodzic could prove a cut above the Championship and is a real coup for the Blades. 5/5
Ciaran Clark / Loan / Newcastle United
An experienced left-sided defender who had a good stint at Newcastle before being relegated to a bit part role. Can provide depth in central defence and his lack of pace may be better served by playing in a back three. 2/5
Reda Khadra / Loan / Brighton
The pacey midfielder caught the eye when on loan at Blackburn last and the Blades hope he'll help fill the void left by Morgan Gibbs-White's exit. 3/5
James McAtee / Loan / Manchester City
McAtee has produced eye-popping goal and assist numbers in the youth ranks, netting 26 times and assisting 16 in 46 Premier League 2 appearances. If getting near that level in the Championship, the Blades may have found their Morgan Gibbs-White replacement. 4/5

Billy Sharp was Sheffield United's leading scorer in the Championship last season with just 14 goals. Loanee Morgan Gibbs-White was the only other player to hit double figures for the Blades with a tally of 11.
No team in the Championship last season conceded fewer goals at home than Sheffield United, who were breached just 15 times in 23 matches at Bramall Lane.
Both teams scored in only 19 of Sheffield United's 46 Championship games last season.
Sheffield United kept 20 clean sheets in 46 games last season, a feat bettered only by promoted Bournemouth.
Fine margins went against Sheffield United in the Championship playoffs, but there were lots of positives to take out of the season and they are likely to come back stronger in 2022-23. The addition of Tommy Doyle is an exciting one but the Blades still need to add better attacking players to take some of the weight off veteran striker Billy Sharp. However, they are making excellent progress under Paul Heckingbottom and look strong contenders for promotion.
