James Tarkowski / Free / Burnley
Everton's leaky defence lacked a no-nonsense centre-half and after splashing so much money on so many flops, Everton may have bagged themselves a bargain by landing Tarkowski for free. 3/5
Ruben Vinagre / Loan / Sporting
Squad depth at left-back had been a concern for Everton and the Portuguese goes some way to addressing that issue. Although he never pulled up any trees at old club Wolves, Vinagre offers plenty going forward from full-back and is a solid squad piece. 2/5
Dwight McNeil / Undisclosed / Burnley
A good ball carrier who is still young enough to improve. Seven goals and 17 assists in 134 Premier League games is not an outstanding return however and the reported fee looks a touch steep. 3/5
Conor Coady / Loan / Wolves
Frank Lampard has been looking for leaders and to strengthen his defensive options and Coady ticks both those boxes. The England international thrived in a back-three at Wolves and should slot in seamlessly at Everton. 4/5
Amadou Onana / £33.5m / Lille
The Belgian midfield stands out for several reasons, the first being his 6ft 4in size and the second is the speed with which a man of his size can cover the field. Onana is excellent as a disruptor but doesn't offer much when his side have the ball and his attacking qualities will need to improve if he's to justify his price tag. 3/5

Everton will need to find another source of goals after Richarlison's move to Tottenham. The Brazilian scored ten or more league goals in three of his last four seasons at Goodison.
Improving their away form will be key for Everton next season as no Premier League team gained fewer points on the road last term than their ten.
No team has scored more own goals in Premier League history than Everton, who bumped up their tally to 59 with a league-best five OGs last season.
Everton's 22 league defeats last season was the highest number they have suffered in their last 28 campaigns.
Everton experienced a miserable campaign last season and escaped the drop thanks to their improved performances at Goodison, where they thrived on the intense atmosphere. Several seasons of poor recruitment has contributed to their decline and it will take time and patience to get back to competing for European places. Next season should bring improvement but a top-half finish may be beyond them.
